Julian Cruise - 6-23-01

Quite a fun day this turned out to be! Even on relatively short notice, 10 of us showed up in the morning to meet others in the Club (many new faces!) and just hang out. To my suprise (well, not really), there was a mini car show just in front of theater no doubt linked to the showing of Fast and the Furious. After talking for a bit, we checked out some of the cars there. Some were actually pretty nice! One very intimidating looking RX-7 was there, along with the usual assortment of H&As. The theater was cool with the car show and was even providing free sodas for everyone. After a bit more yappin', most of us left for Julian. The ride there was relatively uneventful (thankfully, as we passed several cops waiting for speeders) but certainly scenic. Once we arrived in Julian, we immediately went to eat. Taking Jen's advice, we ate at the Julian Cafe. Pretty good food! The waitress there took a liking to Frank ;) After lunch we all strolled Julian until it was time to head down the mountain to catch a movie (on a side note, there were a number of other Zs in Julian that day). This ride was a bit more fun as we left the back way out of Julian down the 79, and this time, we didn't have to contend with too much traffic. Some nice turns on the way down. An hour or so later we arrived at the theater to watch Fast and the Furious and I've gotta say, I enjoyed the movie. I knew it wasn't going to be cinematic perfection, but the racing was good and the movie was fast paced and that's all I wanted from it. After the movie, we were pretty much done for the day. All in all, I had a great time and hope everyone else did too. For those that didn't make it, here are some pics. They're crappy quality due to me once again forgetting my digicam. The first two rows are us in the morning, and the last row is of us in Julian. The last pic has some weird, ghostly apparition in it conveniently blocking the right side of the street!
